CALL OUT: Tottenham Community Empowerment Week 4th – 12th October 2014

Why not plan an event to coincide with the week?!

The Our Tottenham network are calling on people and groups to organise activities and events showcasing the collective power and concerns of those who live and work in Tottenham, and celebrate our strong and diverse communities. The week will build up to the next Our Tottenham Community Conference planned for Saturday 11th October.

As soon as you confirm your event we will add it to the programme which will then be publicised widely.

All Week

Exhibition: How the community transformed Tottenham’s largest park
– Two decades of community action in Lordship Rec
The Eco Hub Cafe, Lordship Rec, N17 6NU. Sat-Sun 10-6pm, Mon-Fri 12-6pm

Saturday 4th October

Wards Corner Community Coalition event (details to be confirmed)

Sunday 5th October

Defending Our Homes: Past, Present and Future 
Come and join us on a walk around Tottenham covering some of the places where residents and tenants have organised to defend their homes. Be inspired by past campaigns.

– Meet at 11am, Lordship Rec Hub, Tottenham

Monday 6th October

REEL News Film and Discussion Night: OUR Neighbourhoods! People power and gentrification (Time & location tbc)
– A series of local and international short films about tenants and residents defending their neighbourhoods against being forced out by gentrification.

Friday 10th October

Bike Ride for World Mental Health Day
– To raise awareness of mental health issues in our communities
Assemble mid-morning with bikes at St Anns Hospital, Tottenham Town Hall and Station Rd Wood Green, and cycle to Infoshop siutated at the Lordship Lane entrance of Lordship Rec, N17 6NU. (Full details tbc)

Saturday 11th October

Our Tottenham Community Conference (details to be confirmed)

– All Tottenham’s community groups are invited to attend to strenghten cooperation, and to achieve what we want for our neighbourhoods. This will include developing community plans and community-led regeneration.
