Participatory Economics – A model for a new economy

December 6, 2014 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

While many people around the world are growing ever more dissatisfied with an economic system based on competition and greed, and who also do not believe that authoritarian planning is the answer, the question of what to put in place of these systems have left many without an answer. Participatory economics is as an attempt to formulate a serious answer to the question of economic vision with the hope that it will inform experiments and movements of people who are seeking to win a better world.

Participatory Economics, sometimes called Parecon for short, is a model for a new economy based on democracy, justice and ecological sustainability proposed as an alternative to capitalism. At this event, Robin Hahnel, co-creator of Participatory Economics, provides an introduction to its key features for anyone wishing to explore what a desirable and viable alternative to our current economic system might look like.

Please visit the newly launched website which provides an accessible introduction to the model with links to further information: www.participatoryeconomics.info.

This event is being hosted by Participatory Economics UK.
