Say No to the St Anns Hospital Sell Off 28th July
Say NO to the St Anns Hospital Sell Off!
Say YES to improvements and expansion of services at St Anns!
Demonstrate on Monday 28th July at 6.15pm at the Council’s Pre-application meeting
Civic Centre, Wood Green N22
Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust propose to sell off 2/3rds of NHS land at St Ann’s to developers without BEH or the Council doing a health needs assessment-a Health Check -on the area. Even though 10.000 new homes are being built here adding to pressure on local health services.
Health inequalities are growing, people travel miles to their nearest A & E, residents cannot get a GP appointment, and mental health services are buckling under the strain.
What residents have consistently called for:
– A Walk In Urgent Care Centre. Haringey has the second highest number of hospital visits in London . This Walk In Centre would help cope with the pressure on local doctors and hospitals.
– GP Practice on the St Anns Site. The Laurels Practice cannot manage now and 10.000 new homes will make matters worse. The Council have this idea proposed in their own health plans!
– Child Health Centre. Haringey has one of worse records of child development in the country with cases like Baby Peter.A Child Centre with integrated health and social services would stop tragedies like this happening again.
– Improved Mental Health. We want not just acute beds but comprehensive primary care, outpatient facilities and after care for patients on the site to ease the transfer back home
What you can do: Check out this plan on Haringey’s planning website. Look under St Anns Development and details ….. “The New St Anns DAS” document
Say you want it kept as a real Hospital: Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust are putting forward their plans to sell off 2/3rds of our NHS at what is called a Pre-Application Meeting where members of the council – NOT the PUBLIC, can raise concerns about this development. This seems a sneaky way of smoothing things through before a planning decision is made by the council in mid September.
Come and raise your own concerns and anger about the way this plan is being pushed through without any Health Assessment or “Health Check” made of the health needs of the borough. No Sell-Off without a Health Check!
