Squatting the Cally walk

A public project commissioned by AIR, which highlights an important history of alternative housing, resistance and organisation in the Caledonian area of Islington. The project will happen in four stages over a three month period. Starting with a walk, with talks and performances by former Caledonian squatters, artists and activists; a series of screen-printed banners; an artist residency in the local library; and a publication and final event in November.

Islington: Nuclear disarmament and trident

Dr Rebecca Johnson FRSA, director of the Acronym Institute for Disarmament Diplomacy and Vice President of CND, speaking on ‘How international initiatives to ban nuclear weapons will help Britain scrap Trident and save £100 billion’.

Dr Johnson will give the latest information about UN nuclear weapons developments, multilateral nuclear ban strategies, and the innovative intergovernmental meetings on the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons held this year. Dr Johnson has also just recently been selected to stand as the prospective parliamentary candidate for the Green Party in the nearby Hampstead and Kilburn constituency for the general election.
